FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 300 AM CST
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...

IN SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA

   ...ST JOHN PARISH

AT 1110 PM CST...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
AN EXPANDING AREA OF HEAVY RAIN AND SCATTERED STRONG THUNDERSTORMS
OCCURRING NEAR THE LOUISIANA COAST AROUND HOUMA AND LAFOURCHE
PARISH AND WELL SOUTH INTO THE GULF OF MEXICO. THE HEAVY RAIN WAS
MOVING NORTH AND NORTHEAST TOWARDS THE NEW ORLEANS METROPOLITAN
AREA.

RADAR ESTIMATES AND SURFACE REPORTS INDICATED RAINFALL RATES OF ONE-
HALF TO ONE INCH PER HOUR IN THE HEAVY RAIN AREAS. DUE TO SATURATED
GROUND FROM THE VERY HEAVY RAINS OVER THE LAST COUPLE DAYS...
FLOODING IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP QUICKLY AS RAINFALL INTENSITY
INCREASES. MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE MUCH OF
REMAINDER OF TONIGHT.


DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
