AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NORTH PLATTE NE 319 PM CDT SUN JUN 21 1998 FORECAST PROBLEMS ARE POPS AND TEMPERATURES THE 18Z SURFACE ANALYSIS SHOWS LOW PRESSURE IN NORTHEAST COLORADO WITH HIGH PRESSURE OVER MONTANA AND NORTHERN NEBRASKA. THUNDERSTORMS WERE VISIBLE ON SATELLITE OVER NORTHEAST COLORADO. DEWPOINTS WERE IN THE 50S ACROSS THE FA. THE MODELS ARE SIMILAR WITH THE BASIC FEATURES. SOUTHWEST FLOW WILL CONTINUE OVER A WARMFRONT IN NORTHEAST COLORADO AND SOUTHWEST NEBRASKA THROUGH MONDAY EVENING. A SHORTWAVE WILL MOVE ACROSS THE FORECAST AREA TONIGHT AND COMBINE WITH Q-G FORCING...UPWARD VERTICAL VELOCITIES AND ISENTROPIC LIFT AT I310. THAT DO DEVELOP ACROSS THE AREA ARE NOT EXPECTED TO REACH SEVERE LIMITS
SINCE INSTABILITY WILL BE MARGINAL. HOWEVER...SOME STORMS SOUTH OF A
LINE FROM JUST SOUTH OF OGALLALA TO CURTIS MAY PRODUCE GUSTY WINDS...
HEAVY RAIN AND SMALL HAIL.
AS THE FRONT MOVES INTO THE WESTERN PORTION OF THE OUTLOOK AREA BY
