THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN JACKSON HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1145 PM CST
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...
 
IN CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI
 
   ...HINDS COUNTY
 
AT 935 PM DOPPLER RADAR SHOWED MORE STRONG THUNDERSTORMS...WHICH WERE
PRODUCING HEAVY RAINFALL OF AROUND ONE INCH PER HOUR...MOVING INTO HINDS
COUNTY. HEAVY RAINS EARLIER TODAY HAVE SATURATED THE GROUND...AND THE
ADDITIONAL RAIN WILL LIKELY CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF LOW-LYING AREAS AND
AREAS NEAR CREEKS AND STREAMS. THE HINDS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE
REPORTED WATER APPROACHING HOMES IN BYRAM.
 
AT NIGHT BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE
THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS.  IF FLASH FLOODING IS
OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY.  MOVE SWIFTLY TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR CAR INTO AREAS WHERE WATER COVERS THE ROAD.
THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO DEEP TO ALLOW YOU TO CROSS SAFELY.
VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER MUST BE ABANDONED QUICKLY.
