NORTHERN BRAZORIA COUNTY IN SOUTHEASTERN TEXAS * UNTIL 930 AM CDT * AT 853 AM CDT... WEATHER RADAR INDICATED A TORNADIC THUNDERSTORM 7 MILES SOUTH OF ALVIN MOVING NORTHWEST AT 25 MPH. * THIS TORNADO IS EXPECTED TO BE NEAR... ALVIN BY 855 AM CDT MANVEL BY 915 AM CDT IOWA COLONY BY 925 AM CDT THIS IS A DANGEROUS STORM SITUATION. ACT QUICKLY. IF YOU ARE IN THE PATH OF THIS TORNADO MOVE TO A PLACE OF SAFETY IN A SMALL INTERIOR ROOM ON THE LOWEST FLOOR POSSIBLE. AVOID WINDOWS. SOUTHEAST TEXAS FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HOUSTON/GALVESTON TX 245 AM CDT SAT AUG 22 1998 ALL EYES THIS A.M. ON CHARLEY AS IT PUSHES TOWARDS THE TEXAS COAST...WITH LANDFALL LOOKING LIKE IT WILL BE CLOSE TO PORT ARANSAS. FOR FORECAST TODAY...WOULD LIKE TO ADJUST CURRENT FFA SLIGHTLY ...TRIMING IT FROM THE NE AS CHARLEY MOVES NW INLAND. BELIEVE FLASH FLOOD THREAT STILL EXISTS SOUTH AND WEST OF A GALVESTON TO HOUSTON TO BELLVILLE LINE. HEAVIEST RAINFALL WILL OCCUR ACROSS IMMEDIATE COAST ALONG BRAZORIA...MATAGORDA...AND JACKSON COUNTIES WHERE LOCALLY 5 INCHES IS POSSIBLE. THIS IS IN CLOSE AGREEMENT WITH 94E. HGX 88D IS SHOWING HIGHEST RAINRATES TO BE NEAR 2 INCHES AN HOUR...SOUTH OF FREEPORT.
