* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  COMAL COUNTY IN SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS

* UNTIL 640 PM CDT

* FLASH FLOODING EXPECTED AROUND-
  U.S. HIGHWAY 281 AND EAST OF NEW BRAUNFELS TO CANYON DAM

* DOPPLER RADAR HAS ESTIMATED 2 TO 3 INCHES AN HOUR RAINFALL RATES
  FROM CONTINUOUS HEAVY SHOWERS PARALLELLING U.S. HIGHWAY 281
  AND... FROM CANYON DAM SOUTH TO NEAR NEW BRAUNFELS.

IF YOU ARE IN THESE AREAS... MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND. DO NOT DRIVE
THROUGH WATER COVERING THE ROAD.


SECONDARY ROADS...LOW WATER CROSSINGS AND BRIDGES ARE EXPECTED TO
FLOOD ACROSS COMAL COUNTY THE NEXT FEW HOURS.   MOTORISTS  MAKE A
SOMETIMES FATAL MISTAKE WHEN THEY DRIVE INTO FLOODED CROSSINGS.
MOST FLOOD FATALITIES OCCUR THIS WAY.

A RISE WILL MOVE DOWN THE( GUADALUPE RIVER BELOW CANYON DAM TO
NEW BRAUNFELS THE NEXT FEW HOURS.   RECREATIONISTS SHOULD GET OUT
OF THE RIVER...AND MOVE AUTOS AND EQUIPMENT FROM LOWER AREAS OF THE
FLOOD PLAIN.
