000 TTAA00 KRDU 220240 RRA SVRRDU NCC183-220330- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RALEIGH/DURHAM NC 1039 PM EDT MON APR 21 1997 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RALEIGH/DURHAM HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1130 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN NORTH CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA ...WAKE COUNTY AT 1040 PM WEATHER SERVICE RADAR SHOWED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM OVER SOUTHERN DURHAM AND NORTHEAST CHATHAM COUNTIES MOVING INTO WAKE COUNTY. THIS STORM WAS MOVING EAST AT 40 MPH AND WILL AFFECT CARY... APEX AND RALEIGH BY 1115 PM. THIS STORM HAS A HISTORY OF PRODUCING LARGE HAIL... AND IS ALSO PRODUCING FREQUENT DEADLY LIGHTNING. PEOPLE SHOULD BE ESPECIALLY ALERT FOR LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WIND. FREQUENT LIGHTNING AND LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN CAN POSE A DANGER WITH ANY THUNDERSTORM.
