000 TTAA00 KNYC 051907 RRA SVRNYC NYC071-052000- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW YORK NY 304 PM EDT TUE AUG 5 1997 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEW YORK HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 400 PM EDT FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN SOUTHEAST NEW YORK ...ORANGE COUNTY AT 300 PM A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WAS INDICATED BY DOPPLER RADAR JUST NORTHWEST OF MONTGOMERY AND ANOTHER THUNDERSTORM WAS JUST NORTHWEST OF MIDDLETOWN. THE STORMS WERE MOVING TO THE SOUTHEAST AT 15 MILES AN HOUR...WHICH WILL TAKE THE STORMS ACROSS HARRIMAN BY 345 PM AND ACROSS CHESTER BY 350 PM. THESE STORMS HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE HAIL UP TO ONE INCH IN DIAMETER ALONG WITH WIND GUSTS TO 30 MILES AN HOUR...VERY HEAVY RAIN AND DEADLY CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCE DAMAGING WIND IN EXCESS OF 58 MPH...DESTRUCTIVE HAIL...DEADLY LIGHTNING...AND VERY HEAVY RAIN.
