000 TTAA00 KLBB 230132 FFWLBB TXC437-230330- BULLETIN...EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LUBBOCK TX 832 PM CDT THU MAY 22 1997 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LUBBOCK TX HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1030 PM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN THE TEXAS PANHANDLE ...WESTERN SWISHER COUNTY AT 830 PM...LUBBOCK DOPPLER RADAR SHOWED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN OVER WESTERN SWISHER COUNTY ABOUT 11 MILES SOUTHWEST OF TULIA. THIS STORM HAS BECOME NEARLY STATIONARY AND RADAR INDICATED NEARLY 4 INCHES OF RAIN DURING THE PAST HOUR WITH THIS STORM. THE STRONGEST FLASH FLOOD THREAT IS NEAR THE INTERSECTIONS OF FM 1424 AND FM 928. A TORNADO WARNING IS ALSO IN EFFECT FOR THIS STORM UNTIL 845 PM. MOST DEATHS IN FLASH FLOODING OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL ONE...ON FOOT.
