243 WUUS1 KNEW 260650 RRA SVRNEW MSC005-260715- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW ORLEANS LA 148 AM CDT SUN OCT 26 1997 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEW ORLEANS HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 215 AM CDT (115 AM CST) FOR RESIDENTS IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN SOUTH MISSISSIPPI ...NORTHERN AMITE COUNTY AT 147 PM CDT...RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM 8 MILES NORTHEAST OF LIBERTY OR 5 MILES SOUTH OF THE SMITHDALE COMMUNITY. THIS STORM WAS MOVING NORTHEAST AT 40 MPH. HAIL LARGER THAN DIME SIZE MAY OCCUR ALONG HIGHWAY 569 AND IN THE VICINITY OF SMITHDALE. A TORNADO WATCH IS ALSO IN EFFECT FOR THE WARNED AREA. REMEMBER SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY DO PRODUCE TORNADOES WITH LITTLE OR NO ADVANCE WARNING. REMAIN CALM BUT BE ALERT TO RAPIDLY CHANGING WEATHER CONDITIONS.
