000 TTAA00 KABQ 030124 RRA SVRABQ NMC009-037-030220- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ALBUQUERQUE NM 625 PM MST WED APR 2 1997 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBUQUERQUE HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 720 PM MST FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN EAST CENTRAL NEW MEXICO ...NORTHERN CURRY COUNTY ...QUAY COUNTY AT 625 PM MST...A LARGE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WAS INDICATED BY DOPPLER RADAR AND SPOTTER REPORTS 5 MILES WEST NORTHWEST OF WHEATLAND...OR 20 MILES SOUTHEAST OF TUCUMCARI. THIS STORM IS CAPABLE OF HAIL UP TO TWO INCHES IN DIAMETER ALONG WITH DAMAGING WINDS AND MAY AFFECT THE COMMUNITY OF WHEATLAND BY 630 PM. MOVEMENT WAS EAST NORTHEAST AT 20 MPH. THIS IS A DANGEROUS STORM. IF YOU ARE IN ITS PATH YOU SHOULD PREPARE FOR DAMAGING WIND IN EXCESS OF 55 MPH...LARGE HAIL...AND DEADLY LIGHTNING. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY DO PRODUCE TORNADOES WITH LITTLE OR ADVANCE WARNING. PEOPLE OUTSIDE SHOULD MOVE TO A PLACE OF SAFETY...PREFERABLY INSIDE A STRONG BUILDING BUT STAY AWAY FROM WINDOWS.
