UTZALL-210615- SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SALT LAKE CITY UT 230 PM MDT THU JUN 20 1996 ...THUNDERSTORMS MOVING ACROSS MUCH OF UTAH... SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ARE MOVING ACROSS MUCH OF UTAH THIS AFTERNOON. DETECTION EQUIPMENT INDICATES WIDESPREAD AREAS OF LIGHTNING ACROSS THE STATE. THESE THUNDERSTORMS ARE MOVING TO THE NORTHEAST FROM 15-30 MPH AND MAY ALSO PRODUCE AREAS OF BRIEF HEAVY RAIN AND GUSTY ERRATIC WINDS. SOUTHERLY SURFACE WINDS 20-30 MPH ACROSS SOUTHERN UTAH WILL ADD TO THE GUSTY ERRATIC WINDS ASSOCIATED WITH THUNDERSTORMS. IF YOU ARE CAUGHT OUTSIDE IN A THUNDERSTORM...DO NOT STAND UNDERNEATH A TALL ISOLATED TREE OR A TELEPHONE POLE. THESE OBJECTS ARE MOST LIKELY TO BE STRUCK BY LIGHTNING.
