000 TTAA00 KRDU 112333 FFWRDU NCC183-120130- BULLETIN - EBS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RALEIGH/DURHAM NC 731 PM EDT WED SEP 11 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RALEIGH/DURHAM HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 930 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN NORTH CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA ...NORTHERN WAKE COUNTY AT 725 PM NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR SHOWED A CLUSTER OF VERY SLOW MOVING THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE CITY OF RALEIGH AND NORTHERN WAKE COUNTY. THE STORMS WERE CAUSING VERY HEAVY RAIN RESULTING IN THE FLODDING OF SOME CITY STREETS IN RALEIGH AND POSSIBLY FLOODING ALONG SMALL STREAMS IN NORTHERN WAKE COUNTY. THE STORMS WERE MOVING VERY SLOWING TO THE NORTHEAST AND WILL CONTINUE TO DUMP HEAVY RAIN OVER RALEIGH AND NORTHERN WAKE COUNTY THROUGH 830 PM. INTERESTS ALONG CRABTREE CREEK SHOULD MONITOR WATER LEVELS CAREFULLY. THE GAUGE AT WAKE FOREST ROAD SHOWED CRABTREE AT 10.2 8FT AND RISING...FLOOD STAGE IS 13 FT...AFLASH FLOOD WARNING MAY BE NEEDED FOR CRABTREE CREEK.

HEAVY RAIN FROM THESE STORMS WAS CAUSING WATER TO POND ON CITY STRRETS. THE CITY OF RALEIGH REPORTS WATER CURB DEEP ON MILLBROOK AND TOWN AND COUNTRY ROADS CLOSING 2 OF THE 4 LANES OF TRAFFIC. OTHER ROADS MAY EXPERIENCE PON,DING AND FLOODING THROUGH 8 PM AS THE STORMS SLOWLY MOVE TOWARDS THE NORTHEAST. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES IN EFFECT FOR THE RALEIGH AREA TONIGHT. REPORT FLOODING TO LAE ENFORCEMENT FO RELAY TO THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE.
