THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RALEIGH/DURHAM HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL MIDNIGHT EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN NORTH CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA
 
   ...WAKE COUNTY
 
IN NORTHEAST NORTH CAROLINA
 
   ...NASH COUNTY
 
THE FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS IN EFFECT FOR NASH AND WAKE COUNTIES HAVE BEEN
EXTENDED UNTIL MIDNIGHT. AT 8 PM NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR
ESTIMATED 4-5 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN IN THE EASTERN PART OF WAKE
COUNTY INCLUDING THE ZEBULON AND WENDELL AREAS.
 
ALSO 5-7 INCHES ARE ESTIMATED TO HAVE FALLEN OVER WESTERN NASH COUNTY.
IN THIS AREA THE STONY AND SAPONY CREEKS ARE FLOODING AS THEY DRAIN
TOWARD THE TAR RIVER. ANYONE CLOSE TO THESE CREEKS NEED TO BE ALERT
FOR DANGEROUS FLASH FLOODING.
 
 
 
FLOOD WATERS ARE HARDER TO SEE AT NIGHT AND MOST FLASH FLOOD
FATALITIES OCCUR AT NIGHT.  AVOID DRIVING ACROSS FLOODED ROADWAYS.
WATER TWO FEET DEEP CAN FLOAT MOST CARS OFF THE ROAD.  REPORT
FLOODING TO LOCAL EMERGENCY OFFICIALS IMMEDIATELY.
