THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RALEIGH/DURHAM HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  345 PM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...
 
IN SOUTHEAST NORTH CAROLINA
 
   ...SAMPSON COUNTY
 
AT 138 PM EDT...WEATHER SERVICE RADAR SHOWED A CLUSTER OF SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS OVER SAMSPON COUNTY. THE SHOWERS AND STORMS WERE MOVING
SLOWLY TO THE WEST. ACCORDING TO DOPPLER RADAR RAINFALL ESTIMATES...AS
MUCH AS 4 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN OVER PORTIONS OF SAMPSON COUNTY
DURING THE PAST HOUR. SAMPSON COUNTY EMERGENCY OFFICIALS REPORTED THAT
SEVERAL STREETS IN CLINTON WERE COVERED WITH AS MUCH AS EIGHTEEN INCHES
OF WATER.
 
REMEMBER...75 PERCENT OF ALL FLOOD RELATED DEATHS RESULT FROM
PEOPLE DRIVING INTO FLOOD WATERS OR CHILDREN PLAYING NEAR FLOODED
CREEKS OR STORM DRAINS.  AVOID DRIVING THROUGH FLOOD WATERS EVEN IF
THEY APPEAR SHALLOW AND KEEP CHILDREN AWAY FROM FLOOD WATERS.
