000 TTAA00 KPHX 150358 FFWPHX AZC013-150450- BULLETIN - EBS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PHOENIX AZ 855 PM MST SUN JUL 14 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PHOENIX AZ HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 10 PM MST FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS... IN SOUTH-CENTRAL ARIZONA ...FAR NORTHWEST MARICOPA COUNTY...NEAR THE TOWN OF AGUILA. A VERY LARGE AND PERSISTENT THUNDERSTORM LOCATED 4 TO 6 MILES NORTHEAST OF THE SMALL TOWN OF AGUILA PRODUCED EXTREMELY HEAVY RAIN BETWEEN 730 PM AND 845 PM. RADAR RAINFALL ESTIMATES INDICATE UP TO 2.50 INCHES OF RAIN MAY HAVE FALLEN ON PORTIONS OF HIGHWAY 71 4 MILES NORTHEAST OF AGUILA. THE THUNDERSTORM WAS STILL IN PROGRESS AT 845 PM. WEATHER INFORMATION AND ROAD CONDITIONS ARE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO GET FROM THIS REMOTE AREA. IT IS LIKELY THAT WASHES CROSSING HIGHWAY 71 ARE FLOODED MAKING TRAVEL IMPOSSIBLE. FLOODED ROADWAYS ARE HARD TO SEE AT NIGHT. MOTORISTS TRAVELING TO AND FROM THE TOWN OF AGUILA ON HIGHWAY 71 ARE URGED TO USE CAUTION. THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING IS POSTED UNTIL 10 PM. VASQUEZ
