000 TTAA00 KPHL 222321 FFWPHL NJC021-230600- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PHILADELPHIA/MOUNT HOLLY NJ 720 PM EDT SAT JUN 22 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PHILADELPHIA/MOUNT HOLLY NJ HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 200 AM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN NEW JERSEY ...MERCER COUNTY HEAVY RAINFALL DURING THE LATE AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING HAS CAUSED SIGNIFICANT RISES ON THE ASSUNPINK CREEK...AS WELL AS WIDESPREAD URBAN AND STREET FLOODING IN MERCER COUNTY. WHILE THE STREET FLOODING WILL SUBSIDE QUICKLY AFTER THE RAIN ENDS... THE LEVEL OF THE ASSUNPINK SHOULD CONTINUE TO RISE DURING THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS DUE TO RUNOFF FROM THE HEAVY RAIN. THE GAGE ON THE ASSUNPINK AT TRENTON WAS AT A LEVEL OF 6.6 FEET SHORTLY AFTER 700 PM. THE CREEK IS EXPECTED TO CREST AROUND OR SLIGHTLY ABOVE 8.0 FEET LATER THIS EVENING. AVOID AREAS WHICH ARE PRONE TO FLOODING. BE E4SPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS MORE DIFFICULT TO RECOGNIZE FLOOD DANGERS. IF YOU GET CAUGHT BY FLOOD WATERS...LEAVE YOUR CAR AND GET TO HIGHER GROUND QUICKLY. YOUR LIFE MAY DEPEND ON IT.
