THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEWPORT HAS ISSUED A
TORNADO WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  230 AM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...
 
IN EAST CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA
 
   ...TYRRELL COUNTY
 
AND THE ADJACENT COASTAL WATERS
 
AT 2 AM NEWPORT DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A LINE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS
WAS DEVELOPING OVER TYRRELL COUNTY ASSOCIATED WITH HURRICANE FRAN.
RADAR INDICATED ISOLATED BRIEF TORNADOES ARE POSSIBLE WITH THIS LINE AS
IT ROTATES NORTHWEST AT 40 MPH. THE TOWNS AFFECTED BY 215 AM WILL BE
COLUMBIA AND GUM NECK.
 
TORNADOES WHICH OCCUR AFTER DARK ARE ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS. GET TO A
PLACE OF SAFETY NOW. STAY AWAY FROM DOORS AND WINDOWS. LEAVE MOBILE
HOMES AND CARS FOR THE SAFETY OF A STURDY BUILDING. IF DAMAGE OCCURS
NEAR YOU...STAY INDOORS UNTIL DAYLIGHT. THERE MAY BE DOWNED POWER
LINPES AND OTHER HAZARDS THAT CANNOT BE SEEN IN THE DARK.
