000 TTAA00 KMHX 282148 TORMHX NCC133-282215- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED TORNADO WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEWPORT NC 547 PM EDT SUN JUL 28 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEWPORT HAS ISSUED A TORNADO WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 615 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN EAST CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA ...SOUTHERN ONSLOW COUNTY AND THE ADJACENT COASTAL WATERS AT 545 PM DOPPLER RADAR IN NEWPORT INDICATED A DEVELOPING TORNADO NEAR THE TOWNS OF MIDWAY PARK AND PINEY GREEN. THIS STORM WAS MOVING SOUTHEAST AT 25 MPH AND WILL AFFECT THE CAMP LEJEUNE AREA THROUGH 6 PM AND NEAR THE COAST BETWEEN NEW RIVER INLET AND SWANSBORO BY 615 PM. TORNADOES IN THE SOUTH ARE HARD TO SEE BECAUSjE OF RAIN...LOW CLOUDS...AND TREES. TAKE COVER IN A CLOSET OR BASEMENT NOW!
