IN EAST CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA ...DUPLIN 714 PM EDT...A POSSIBLE TORNADO WAS INDICATED BY NEWPORT DOPPLER RADAR 2 MILES EAST NORTHEAST OF WARSAW MOVING EAST SOUTHEAST AT 15 MPH. THE TORNADO IS EXPECTED TO BE NEAR KENANSVILLE BY 730 PM EDT. IF YOU ARE IN THE PATH OF A TORNADO...THE SAFEST PLACE IN A HOME OR BUSINESS IS AN INTERIOR ROOM ON THE LOWEST FLOOR POSSIBLE. DOPPLER RADAR IN NEWPORT HAS INDICTAED THAT 2 TO 3 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN IN WESTERN ONSLOW COUNTY THIS AFTERNOON. THE HEAVIEST RAIN FELL IN AN AREA BETWEEN CAPE LEJUENE AND SWANSBORO. HEAVY RAINS HAVE ALSO FALLEN IN EASTERN CARTERET AND SOUTHERN CRAVEN COUNTIES. SMALL DITCHES HAVE FILLED UP AND WATER HAS COLLECTED IN LOW SPOTS ON ROADWAYS CREATING HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS.
