FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1100 PM CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...
 
IN SOUTHWEST ILLINOIS
 
   ...MONROE COUNTY
 
HEAVY RAINS OF THE PAST FEW HOURS HAVE FALLEN IN MONROE COUNTY AND
CAUSED STREAMS AND CREEKS TO OVERFLOW THEIR BANKS. AT 805 PM THE MONROE
COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE REPORTED THAT WATER WAS COVERING SOME LOCAL
STREETS AND ROADS IN COLUMBIA ILLINOIS...IN NORTHERN MONROE COUNTY.
 
WEATHER RADAR ESTIMATES INDICATE THAT ONE TO TWO INCHES OF RAIN HAVE
FALLEN IN THE AREA IN THE LAST THREE HOURS...AND ADDITIONAL HEAVY
RAINFALL MAY BE EXPECTED IN THE NEXT TWO HOURS.
 
IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED OR IMMINENT...MOVE QUICKLY TO
HIGHER GROUND. NEVER DRIVE INTO AN AREA WHERE WATER COVERS THE
ROAD...ESPECIALLY LOW-WATER BRIDGES.
 
BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE
THE DANGERS OF FLOODING. NEVER DRIVE OR WALK INTO FLOOD WATER.
