AT 1050 PM...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR CONTINUED TO
INDICATE A LARGE AREA OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS EXTENDING FROM SOUTH
CENTRAL INTO EAST CENTRAL MISSOURI AND CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN ILLINOIS.
THUNDERSTORMS CONTAINING HEAVY RAINS HAVE BEEN CONTINUING TO DEVELOP AND
REPEATEDLY MOVE NORTHEASTWARD OVER THE SAME AREAS. ADDITIONAL HEAVY
RAINS OVER THE SAME AREA WILL AGGREVATE THE FLOODING ALREADY ONGOING.
 
DOPPLER RADAR WAS ESTIMATING THAT ONE AND ONE HALF TO TWO AND ONE HALF
INCHES OF RAIN HAVE FALLEN OVER PORTIONS OF EAST CENTRAL MISSOURI AND
WEST CENTRAL ILLINOIS DURING THE LAST THREE HOURS.
 
NUMEROUS REPORTS OF SMALL STREAMS AND CREEKS FLOODING OR AT BANKFULL
HAVE BEEN REPORTED ALONG WITH WATER AS MUCH AS THREE FEET DEEP OVER
SEVERAL ROADS.  SOME RESIDENTS IN FLOOD PRONE AREAS OF IMPERIAL AND
ARNOLD IN JEFFERSON COUNTY HAVE BEEN EVACUATED DUE TO THE FLOODING AND
RAPIDLY RISING WATER ALONG CREEKS AND STREAMS.
 
BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE
THE DANGERS OF FLOODING. NEVER DRIVE OR WALK INTO FLOOD WATER.
IF YOU LIVE NEAR A SMALL STREAM OR OTHER LOW LYING FLOOD-
PRONE AREA...BE PREPARED TO MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND QUICKLY.
