000 TTAA00 KNEW 010644 RRA TORNEW MSC059-010715- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED TORNADO WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW ORLEANS LA 1244 AM CST SUN DEC 1 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEW ORLEANS HAS ISSUED A TORNADO WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 115 AM CST FOR RESIDENTS IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN SOUTH MISSISSIPPI ...SOUTHERN JACKSON COUNTY AND THE ADJACENT COASTAL WATERS AT 1243 AM CST...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR IN SLIDELL LOUISIANA INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM POSSIBLY CONTAINING A TORNADO OR STRONG WATERSPOUT OVER THE MISSISSIPPI SOUND 10 MILES SOUTH OF OCEAN SPRINGS. THIS DANGEROUS STORM WAS MOVING TO THE NORTHEAST AT 35 MPH AND IS EXPECTED TO CROSS THE COASTLINE NEAR OCEAN SPRINGS AROUND 1250 AM. SEVERE WEATHER AND POSSIBLE TORNADOES CAN BE EXPECTED FROM OCEAN SPRINGS TO PASCAGOULA BEFORE 1 AM. IF YOU ARE IN THE PATH OF A TORNADO...THE SAFEST PLACE IS A BASEMENT.
