THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN JACKSON HAS ISSUED A
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1130 PM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTY...

IN SOUTHEAST KENTUCKY

AT 1025 PM EDT WEATHER RADAR INDICATED SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS EXTENDING
FROM 35 MILES NORTHWEST OF JACKSON TO 45 MILES WEST OF JACKSON. THE
STORMS WERE MOVING SOUTHEAST AT 35 MPH TOWARDS
JACKSON...HAZARD...MANCHESTER AND HYDEN.

WINDS IN EXCESS OF 60 CAN BE EXPECTED WITH THESE STORMS...WITH WINDS IN
EXCESS OF 70 MPH POSSIBLE IN BREATHITT COUNTY. THIS IS A DANGEROUS
SITUATION. TAKE COVER NOW.

A TORNADO WATCH IS ALSO IN EFFECT.  SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN PRODUCE
TORNADOES.
 
IF YOU ARE CAUGHT OUTSIDE...SEEK SHELTER FROM THE WEATHER IN A
STRONG BUILDING.  DAMAGING WIND...LARGE HAIL...VERY HEAVY RAIN AND
DEADLY LIGHTNING ARE ALL POSSIBLE IN SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS.  STAY
