THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  200 AM CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...
 
IN SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS
 
   ...VAL VERDE COUNTY
 
AT 1000 PM CDT...DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A BAND OF THUNDERSTORMS
EXTENDING FROM 100 MILES SOUTH OF DEL RIO TO NEAR COMSTOCK TO JUNO.
RAINFALL REPORTS OF NEARLY 2 INCHES IN LESS THAN 30 MINUTES HAVE BEEN
REPORTED WITH THESE STORMS AS THEY MOVED THROUGH WESTERN VAL VERDE
COUNTY.  ISOLATED 4 TO 5 INCH TOTALS ARE POSSIBLE AS THE STORMS MOVE
NORTHEAST AT 20 MPH.
 
BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS.  IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED
ACT QUICKLY.  MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.  DO
NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.
 
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IMMINENT.
MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT ATTEMPT TO
CROSS BRIDGES...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY.  NEVER TRY
TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL ONE...ON FOOT TO ESCAPE
RISING WATER DURING THREATENING RAINS.
