000 TTAA00 KBUF 082104 TORBUF NYC063-082200- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED TORNADO WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BUFFALO NY 503 PM EDT THU AUG 8 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BUFFALO NY HAS ISSUED A TORNADO WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 600 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN WESTERN NEW YORK ...NIAGARA COUNTY AT 500 PM BUFFALO DOPPLER RADAR SHOWED A POSSIBLE TORNADO LOCATED 4 MILES EAST OF YOUNGTOWN NEAR THE NIAGARA FRONTIER COUNTRY CLUB IN NORTHERN NIAGARA COUNTY. THE STORM WAS MOVING TO THE SOUTHEAST AT 20 MILES AN HOUR AND WILL REACH THE TOWN OF PENDLETON AROUND 520 PM...TRACKING BETWEEN PEKIN AND LOCKPORT. IF YOU ARE IN THE PATH OF A TORNADO...THE SAFEST PLACE IN A HOME OR BUSINESS IS AN INTERIOR ROOM...SUCH AS YOUR BATHROOM...ON THE LOWEST FLOOR POSSIBLE. AVOID WINDOWS.
