000 TTAA00 KPIT 160244 FFWPIT PAC073-121-WVC061-160345- BULLETIN - EBS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PITTSBURGH PA 1040 PM EDT SAT JUL 15 1995 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PITTSBURGH HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1145 PM EDT FOR THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS... IN NORTHWEST PENNSYLVANIA ...LAWRENCE COUNTY...VENANGO COUNTY IN NORTH WEST VIRGINIA ...MONONGALIA COUNTY HEAVY THUNDERSTORM RAINS CONTINUE OVER VENANGO AND LAWRENCE COUNTIES AS THEY HAVE BEEN OVER BUTLER AND MERCER COUNTIES. THESE CONTINUED HEAVY RAINS CAN CAUSE FLASH FLOODING. ROAD FLOODING HAS BEEN REPORTED IN SOME TOWNS AND SOME SMALL STREAMS ARE RUNNING HIGH AND COULD GO OUT OF THEIR BANKS. HEAVY THUNDERSTORM RAINS ARE ALSO OCCURRING OVER MONONGALIA COUNTY WEST VIRGINIA...SO ALTHOUGH THE THREAT OF DAMAGING WIND AND LARGE HAIL HAS EASED...THE FLASH FLOOD THREAT IS INCREASING. A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT. MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS THE ROAD. NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL ONE...ON FOOT. TO ESCAPE RISING WATER MOVE UNP TO HIGHER GROUND. IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW WHERE YOU ARE RELATIVE TO STREAMS...RIVERS...OR CREEKS WHICH CAN BECOME KILLERS IN HEAVY RAINS. CAMPERS SHOULD AVOID CAMPING ALONG STREAMS DURING THREATENING RAINS.
