000 TTAA00 KNYC 150317 RRA SVRNYC CTC009-150400- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW YORK NY 1117 PM EDT SAT OCT 14 1995 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEW YORK HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL MIDNIGHT EDT FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN SOUTH CENTRAL CONNECTICUT ...NEW HAVEN COUNTY AND THE ADJACENT COASTAL WATERS DOPPLER RADAR SHOWED A LINE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS MOVING INTO NEW HAVEN COUNTY. THESE THUNDERSTORMS HAVE A HISTORY OF PRODUCING DAMAGING WINDS TO 60 MPH. THEY WERE MOVING TOWARDS THE NORTHEAST AT 40 TO 45 MPH. THEY WILL MOVE THROUGH THE COUNTY IN THE NEXT 45 MINUTES. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCE DAMAGING WIND IN EXCESS OF 58 MPH...DESTRUCTIVE HAIL...DEADLY LIGHTNING...AND VERY HEAVY RAIN. FOR YOUR PROTECTION MOVE TO AN INTERIOR ROOM ON THE LOWEST FLOOR OF YOUR HOME OR BUSINESS. HEAVY RAINS FLOOD ROADS QUICKLY SO DON'T DRIVE INTO AREAS WHERE WATER COVERS THE ROAD.

THOSE COUNTIES HIT THE HARDEST THUS FAR INCLUDE HUDSON COUNTY IN NEW JERSEY...ORANGE AND WESTCHESTER COUNTIES IN NEW YORK...AND FAIRFIELD AND NEW HAVEN COUNTIES IN CONNECTICUT. 1 TO 1.5 INCHES OF RAIN HAVE ALREADY FALLEN IN PARTS OF THESE COUNTIES.
