THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BAKERSFIELD HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  6 AM SATURDAY
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION......

IN CENTRAL CALIFORNIA

   ...NORTHEASTERN AND EAST CENTRAL KERN COUNTY

AT 1205 AM...LIGHT TO MODERSTE RAINFALL CONTINUED IN THE SOUTHERN
SIERRA NEVADA...WITH SIGNIFICANT RUNOFF IN THE KELSO AND CALIENTE
CREEK WATERSHEDS.  THIS RUNOFF IS EXPECTED TO REACH THE FOOTHILLS
ADJACENT TO THE SOUTHERN SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY AROUND SUNRISE.  ALSO
...ROCKSLIDES IN THE KERN RIVER CANYON HAVE CLOSED HIGHWAY 178.
THERE HAVE BEEN NO REPORTS OF FLOODING FROM THE KERN RIVER NEAR
KERNVILLE...BUT AS THE RAIN CONTINUES...RUNOFF COULD CAUSE
A RISE IN THE RIVER LEVEL ABOVE LAKE ISABELLA.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS
IMMINENT.  MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT
ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS
THE ROADWAY.  NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL
ONE...ON FOOT.  TO ESCAPE RISING WATER MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT.  ITS
IMPORTANT TO KNOW WHERE YOU ARE RELATIVE TO STREAMS...RIVERS...OR
CREEKS WHICH CAN BECOME KILLERS IN HEAVY RAINS.  CAMPERS SHOULD
AVOID CAMPING ALONG STREAMS OR CREEKS DURING THREATENING RAINS.
