THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PHOENIX AZ HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD
WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 4 AM MST FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING
LOCATIONS...

IN NORTH-CENTRAL ARIZONA

  ...CENTRAL COCONINO COUNTY

THIS INCLUDES THE COLORADO RIVER AND TRIBUTARIES IN THE GRAND CANYON.

HEAVY RAINS FALLING IN AND AROUND THE GRAND CANYON AREA HAVE RESULTED IN
MANY STREAMS AND WASHES RUNNING AT BANK FULL. AT 1230 AM MST THE
DISPATCHER AT GRAND CANYON NATIONAL REPORTED WATER RUNNING IN BRIGHT
ANGEL CREEK ABOUT A FOOT AND A HALF BELOW THE BRIDGE, WITH WATER LEVEL
RISING AT A RATE OF ABOUT ONE FOOT PER HOUR.  LATEST SATELLITE IMAGERY
INDICATES THAT PERIODS OF MODERATE RAIN WILL CONTINUE IN THE AREA FOR
THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS. 

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT.
CAMPERS AND HIKERS SHOULD SEEK HIGHER GROUND. DO NOT PARK YOUR VEHICLE
NEAR STREAMS OR OTHER AREAS SUBJECT TO FLASH FLOODING.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS.
