IN CENTRAL ALABAMA ...SOUTHERN JEFFERSON COUNTY...WESTERN SHELBY COUNTY AT 544 PM...WEATHER SERVICE RADAR SHOWED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM ALONG THE JEFFERSON/SHELBY COUNTY LINE JUST SOUTHWEST OF HOOVER. THIS STORM WAS MOVING WEST-SOUTHWEST AT 15 MPH...AND WILL BE AFFECTING THE HELENA AND BESSEMER AREAS THROUGH 615 PM. WHEN THUNDERSTORMS ARE OCCURRING...PEOPLE SHOULD MOVE INSIDE A STRONG BUILDING. DO NOT STAND BY WINDOWS. DON'T USE TELEPHONES OR ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES UNLESS IN AN EMERGENCY UNTIL THE STORM HAS PASSED. MOTORISTS SHOULD NOT DRIVE INTO LOW WATER CROSSINGS.
