AT 450 PM CDT LUBBOCK DOPPLER RADAR SHOWED THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPING RAPIDLY OVER MAINLY EASTERN COUNTIES OF THE SOUTH PLAINS. THE STORMS WITH THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL RATES WERE LOCATED OVER FLOYD AND MOTLEY COUNTIES. THESE STORMS WERE MOVING TOWARD THE EAST ABOUT 10 TO 15 MPH. OTHER STORMS WERE DEVLOPING OVER NEARBY PORTIONS OF THE SOUTHEASTERN TEXAS PANHANDLE AS WELL AS NORTHERN PARTS OF THE PERMIAN BASIN. FREQUENT LIGHTNING...STRONG GUSTY WINDS...HAIL AND LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL CAN ALL BE EXPECTED AS TvHE STORMS MOVE ACROSS THE AREA LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

AT 620 PM CDT LUBBOCK DOPPLER RADAR SHOWED SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS IN THE EASTERN SOUTH PLAINS ALONG AND JUST EAST OF THE CAPROCK. THE STORMS EXTENDED OUT OF THE PANHANDLE INTO MOTLEY COUNTY NORTH OF MATADOR...SOUTH ACROSS CROSBY AND DICKENS COUNTY...THEN THROUGH GARZA COUNTY NEAR POST...AND SOUTH INTO THE PERMIAN BASIN. THE STRONGEST STORMS WERE LOCATED JUST NORTHEAST OF CROSBYTON IN CROSBY COUNTY...12 MILES SOUTHWEST OF POST IN GARZA COUNTY...7 MILES SOUTHWEST AND 15 MILES NORTH OF MATADOR IN MOTLEY COUNTY. TH STORMS WERE MOVING EAST 15 MILES AN HOUR. STRONG GUSTY WIND...FREQUENT DANGEROUS LIGHTNING...VERY HEAVY RAIN...AND SOME HAIL CAN BE EXPECTED WITH THE STRONGER STORMS. RAINFALL ESTIMATES FROM LUBBOCK'S DOPPLER RADAR SHOWED MAXIMUM PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS OF 4 TO 7 INCHES WITH THE STORMS NORTH OF MATADOR...NORTHEAST OF CROSBYTON...AND SOUTHWEST OF POST.
