557 AM CDT WED MAY 11 1994

...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR NORTHERN KENT COUNTY EXPIRED...
...FLASH FLOOD WATCH TODAY AND TONIGHT FOR THE SOUTH PLAINS AND LOW
ROLLING PLAINS...

THE THUNDERSTORM WHICH PROMPTED THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR
NORTHERN KENT COUNTY HAS WEAKENED SINCE 5 AM...AND WAS MOVING EAST INTO
KING AND STONEWALL COUNTIES.  THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR
NORTHERN KENT COUNTY EXPIRED AT 530 AM.

AT 545 AM...SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS...SOME WITH VERY HEAVY
RAIN...HAD MOVED EAST OF THE CAPROCK AND WERE AFFECTING MOTLEY...
COTTLE...DICKENS...AND KING COUNTIES.  THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL SINCE 430
AM WAS OVER CENTRAL DICKENS COUNTY...JUST NORTHEAST OF DICKENS.  SOME
FLOODING OF LOW LYING AREAS HAS LIKELY OCCURRED OVER PORTIONS OF
KENT...DICKENS...NORTHWEST KING...AND SOUTHERN SECTIONS OF MOTLEY AND
COTTLE COUNTIES.

OTHER SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WERE DEVELOPING OVER SOUTHEAST NEW
MEXICO.  THIS PRECIPITATION MAY AFFECT THE SOUTH PLAINS LATER THIS
MORNING...THEREFORE A FLASH FLOOD WATCH IS IN EFFECT SINCE THE GROUND
IS ALREADY SATURATED IN MANY AREAS FROM RAINFALL OVER THE PAST TWO DAYS.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED
QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.  ALLOW EXTRA TRAVEL TIME TO REACH YOUR
DESTINATION THIS MORNING DUE TO LOCALLY FLOODED ROADWAYS.
