...STRONNG THUNDERSTORM IN THE  NORTHERN FOOTHILLS OF NORTH CAROLINA...

AT 155 PM RADAR SHOWED A STRONG THUNDERSTORM IN EXTREME WESTERN WILKES
COUNTY ABOUT 15 MILES WEST OF NORTH WILKESBORO.

THIS STORM IS MOVING VERY SLOWLY TO THE EAST AT ABOUT 5 MPH.

PERSONS IN WESTERN WILKES COUNTY SHOULD REMAIN ALERT FOR THUNDERSTORMS
THAT CAN PRODUCE VERY HEAVY DOWNPOURS...DEADLY CLOUD TO GROUND
LIGHTNING...STRONG GUSTY WINDS...AND SMALL HAIL.

IF THREATENING WEATHER APPROACHES YOUR LOCATION...TAKE SHELTER

... SMALL HAIL IN NORTH RALEIGH ...

WIDELY SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS HAVE DEVELOPED ACROSS THE NORTHEAST
PIEDMONT...THE SANDHILLS...AND THE COASTAL PLAIN. THE STRONGEST
STORMS WERE LOCATED IN FRNAKLIN COUNTY...AND IN NORTHERN WAKE
COUNTY. LARGE HAIL HAS BEEN REPORTED IN NORTH RALEIGH. A SEVERE
THUNDERSTORM WARNING IS EFFECT FOR FRANKLIN COUNTY TIL 415 PM
DUE TO REPORTS OF A 60 MPH WIND GUST NEAR FRANKINTON.

THERE MAY BE A FEW MORE THUNDERSTORMS THAT BECOME SEVERE WITH LARGE
HAIL AND/OR DAMAGING WINDS THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING.

THE THUNDERSTORMS WERE MOVING SLOWLY EASTWARD. STAY TUNE TO NOAA
WEATHER RADIO FOR FURTHER UPDATES AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.
