   KANSAS UNTIL 8 PM CDT...

AT 650 PM CDT...THERE WERE NO THUNDERSTORMS IN NORTHEAST OR EAST CENTRAL
KANSAS ALTHOUGH THERE WERE SHOWERS ABOUT 25 MILES SOUTHEAST OF EMPORIA
OR ABOUT 7 MILES SOUTH OF BURLINGTON IN SOUTHERN COFFEY COUNTY.

THERE WERE THUNDERSTORMS ABOUT 20 MILES WEST OF EMPORIA NEAR COTTONWOOD
FALLS...AND ABOUT 15 MILES SOUTH SOUTHWEST OF BURLINGTON NEAR YATES
CENTER. THESE STORMS HAVE BEEN MOVING SLOWLY TO THE EAST NORTHEAST
AT AROUND 10 MILES AN HOUR. THIS MOVEMENT WOULD BRING THE THUNDEERSTORM0S
SOUTH OF BURLINGTON INTO SOUTHERN COFFEY COUNTY BY 750 PM. THE THUNDER/
STORMS WEST OF EMPORIA MAY GET INTO SOUTHEAST MORRIS COUNTY TO THE SOUTH
OF COUNCIL GROVE BY 8 PM.

STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WERE PUSHING NORTHEASTWARD INTO EAST CENTRAL
KANSAS AT AROUND 8 PM CDT.   THE LEADING EDGE EXTENDED FROM ABOUT
60 MILES SOUTH OF TOPEKA...OR ABOUT 10 MILES SOUTH OF BURLINGTON
...TO EMPORIA TO ABOUT 30 MILES SOUTHWEST OF JUNCTION CITY.  THE
STRONGEST THUNDERSTORM WAS ABOUT 40 MILES SOUTHWEST OF JUNCTION
CITY AND WAS CAPBLE OF PRODUCING GUSTY WINDS IN EXCESS OF 40 MILES
AN HOUR...HAIL AND BRIEF HEAVY RAINS.

THE STORMS WERE MOVING TO THE NORTHEAST AT ABOUT 20 MILES AN HOUR.
CURRENT MOVEMENT WOULD PUT THEM IN THE COUNCIL GROVE AND JOHN
REDMOND RESERVOIR AREAS BY 9 PM CDT AND ALSO IN THE GARNETT VICINITY
...ALL ABOUT 40 TO 50 MILES SOUTH AND SOUTHWEST OF TOPEKA.

CAMPERS IN THESE RECREATIONAL AREAS AN OTHERS WHO PLAN TO BE OUTSIDE
SHOULD BE PREPARED TO SEEK SHELTER IF THESE STORMS APPROACH OR A WARNING

A LARGE AREA OF RAIN WITH EMBEDDED STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WAS SOUTH OF
A LINE FROM COUNCIL GROVE TO 10 MILES NORTH OF EMPORIA TO JUST SOUTH
OF OTTAWA AT 845 PM CDT. THE STRONGER STORMS WERE IN THE EMPORIA AREA
...AND TO THE SOUTHEAST OF BURLINGTON IN SOUTHEAST COFFEY COUNTY...AND
TO THE SOUTH OF GARNETT IN SOUTHERN ANDERSON COUNTY. THESE STORMS WERE
LIKELY PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAINS AND GUSTY WINDS TO AROUND 40 MPH.
THE WHOLE AREA OF RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS WAS SPREADING TO THE NORTH AT
AROUND 25 MPH. THIS MOVEMENT WILL BRING THE RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS TO
A LINE FROM NEAR MANHATTAN TO TOPEKA TO LAWRENCE BY 945 PM.

WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE STORM IN DICKINSON COUNTY...THERE HAS BEEN
SOME DECREASE IN INTENSITY OF THE THUNDERSTORMS SINCE 7 PM. HOWEVER...
VERY HEAVY RAINS ARE STILL LIKELY WITH THE THUNDERSTORMS.

CAMPERS AT THE RECREATIONAL LAKES SHOLULD SEEK SHELTER AS THESE STORMS
MOVE THROUGH. STAY TUNED TO NOAA WEARHER RADIO...OR LOCAL RADIO AND TV
FOR THE LATEST INFORMATION ON THESE STORMS.
