THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ELKINS HAS ISSUED A
FLOOD WARNING FOR SMALL STREAMS EFFECTIVE UNTIL  945 PM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN EAST WEST VIRGINIA
 
   ...HARDY COUNTY...PENDLETON COUNTY...POCAHONTAS COUNTY
 
HEAVY RAINS OVER THE PAST 12 TO 18 HOURS HAVE CAUSED SMALL STREAMS AND
CREEKS TO RISE. RAINFALL OF OVER 2 INCHES HAVE BEEN REPORTED ACROSS
POCAHONTAS COUNTY AND HARDY COUNTY. UP TO 2 1/2 INCHES OF RAIN HAS
FALLEN ALONG THE EASTERN AND SOUTHERN SECTIONS OF PENDLETON COUNTY.
 
WEATHER RADAR INDICATED MORE MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN MOVING OVER THE
WARNED AREAS.
 
IN PENDLETON COUNTY A COOPERATIVE OBSERVER NEAR BRANDYWINE REPORTS
SMALL STREAMS NEARING BANKFULL WITH SOME LOW-WATER BRIDGES COVERED
WITH WATER.
 
IN POCAHONTAS COUNTY DOUTHATS CREEK IS STARTING TO OVERFLOW IN THE
EASTERN SECTION OF THE COUNTY. OTHER STREAMS ARE NEAR BANKFUL.
 
IN HARDY COUNTY THE HEAVIEST RAINS INDICATED BY RADAR AND AUTOMATED
RAIN GAGES HAVE FALLEN FROM THE CENTRAL SECTION EAST TO THE VIRGINIA
BORDER.
 
SMALL STREAMS AND CREEKS WILL CONTINUE TO RISE. KEEP A WATCH ON STREAM
LEVELS AND MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IF HEAVY RAINS CONTINUE AND WATER
LEVELS RISE.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
