FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  730 PM CDT (630 PM MDT)
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN SOUTHEAST NEW MEXICO
 
   ...LEA COUNTY
 
AT 325 PM CDT(225 PM MDT)...THE CIVIL DEFENSE COORDINATOR IN LEA
COUNTY NEW MEXICO REPORTED THAT 6 INCHES OF RAINFALL HAD FALLEN IN
SOME PORTIONS OF LEA COUNTY THIS AFTERNOON. IN COMBINATION WITH
SATURATED GROUND...THIS HEAVY RAINFALL WILL LIKELY CAUSE FLASH
FLOODING PONDING OF WATER IN LOW LYING AREAS.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
 
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT.  IT'S
IMPORTANT TO KNOW WHERE YOU ARE RELATIVE TO STREAMS...RIVERS...OR
CREEKS WHICH CAN BECOME KILLERS IN HEAVY RAINS.  CAMPERS SHOULD
AVOID CAMPING ALONG STREAMS OR CREEKS DURING THREATENING RAINS.
