000 TTAA00 KLBB 170021 TORLBB TXC189-170130- BULLETIN - EBS ACTIVATION REQUESTED TORNADO WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LUBBOCK TX 723 PM CDT THU APR 16 1992 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LUBBOCK HAS ISSUED A TORNADO WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 830 PM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS... IN NORTHWEST TEXAS ...SOUTHERN HALE COUNTY AT 720 PM CDT THE POLICE DEPARTMENT IN ABERNATHY REPORTED A POSSIBLE TORNADO FORMING OVER THE TOWN OF ABERNATHY. THE STORM WAS MOVING NORTHEAST AT 20 MPH. PERSONS IN ABERNATHY SHOULD SEEK SAFE SHELTER IMMEDIATELY. IF YOU ARE IN THE PATH OF A TORNADO...THE SAFEST PLACE IS A BASEMENT. GET UNDER A WORKBENCH OR PIECE OF STURDY FURNITURE. IF NO BASEMENT IS AVAILABLE...SEEK SHELTER IN AN INTERIOR ROOM SUCH AS A CLOSET ON THE LOWEST FLOOR. USE BLANKETS...PILLOWS... OR CUSHIONS TO COVER YOUR BODY. AVOID WINDOWS.

AT 310 PM CDT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR WAS INDICATING STRONG THUNDERSTORMS OVER HALE COUNTY. THE THUNDERSTORMS EXTENDED FROM NORTH OF ABERNATHY NORTHEASTWARD INTO THE SOUTHERN PANHANDLE. THE STRONGEST STORM WAS LOCATED 8 MILES NORTH OF ABERNATHY. AT 300 PM CDT THE PUBLIC REPORTED PEA SIZE HALE SOUTH OF HALE CENTER. MOVEMENT WAS NORTHEAST 25 MILES AN HOUR. DANGEROUS LIGHTNING...STRONG GUSTY WINDS...AND SMALL HAIL CAN BE EXPECTED WITH THE PASSAGE OF THE STRONGER STORMS.
