000 TTAA00 KLBB 162256 TORLBB TXC189-170000- BULLETIN - EBS ACTIVATION REQUESTED TORNADO WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LUBBOCK TX 557 PM CDT THU APR 16 1992 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LUBBOCK HAS ISSUED A TORNADO WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 700 PM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS... IN NORTHWEST TEXAS ...CENTRAL HALE COUNTY AT 555 PM CDT RADAR CONTINUED TO INDICATE A POSSIBLE TORNADO NEAR HAPPY UNION IN CENTRAL HALE COUNTY. THE STORM WAS MOVING TO THE NORTHEAST AT 20 MILES AN HOUR. IF YOU ARE IN THE PATH OF A TORNADO...THE SAFEST PLACE IS A BASEMENT. GET UNDER A WORKBENCH OR PIECE OF STURDY FURNITURE. AT 310 PM CDT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR WAS INDICATING STRONG THUNDERSTORMS OVER HALE COUNTY. THE THUNDERSTORMS EXTENDED FROM NORTH OF ABERNATHY NORTHEASTWARD INTO THE SOUTHERN PANHANDLE. THE STRONGEST STORM WAS LOCATED 8 MILES NORTH OF ABERNATHY. AT 300 PM CDT THE PUBLIC REPORTED PEA SIZE HALE SOUTH OF HALE CENTER. MOVEMENT WAS NORTHEAST 25 MILES AN HOUR. DANGEROUS LIGHTNING...STRONG GUSTY WINDS...AND SMALL HAIL CAN BE EXPECTED WITH THE PASSAGE OF THE STRONGER STORMS.
