LOCAL STORM REPORT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CINCINNATI, OH 145 PM EDT SUN JUL 12 1992 ...LATE REPORT FROM SATURDAY 7/11/92... TIME OF OCCURRENCE...547 PM EDT 7/11/92 WHERE...BETHEL OHIO (31 SSW ILN) IN CLERMONT COUNTY SEVERE EVENT...HIGH WIND SOURCE...NEWS MEDIA/CLERMONT COUNTY POLICE DISPATCH REPORT... 80 MILE AN HOUR WINDS WERE REPORTED IN THE COMMUNITY OF BETHEL OHIO. BASED ON TELEPHONE CONVERSATIONS WITH THE DISPATCH OFFICE IN BATAVIA OHIO THE DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BY STRAIGHT LINE WINDS. NUMEROUS TREES WERE UPROOTED. DAMAGE COVERED AN 8 MILE STRETCH BETWEEN BETHEL AND FELICITY OHIO. DAMAGE WAS MOST EXSTENSIVE IN THE COMMUNITY OF BETHEL WHERE 50 HOMES...12 BUSINESSES...AND 25 VEHICLES SUSTAINED DAMAGE (SOURCE WLW RADIO). DOLLAR ESTIMATES WERE UNAVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. . THERE WERE SEVERAL REPORTS OF A LOUD RUSH OF WIND. FUNNEL CLOUDS WERE REPORTED BY SOME RESIDENTS IN THE COMMUNITY OF BETHEL...BUT A POLICE OFFICER IN THE VICINITY REPORT THAT THE VISIBILITY WAS NEAR ZERO DUE TO RAIN WHEN THE GUST OF WIND CAME THROUGH. . AT THIS POINT...THE WEATHER SERVICE IN CINCINNATI CANNOT RULE OUT THE OCCURRENCE OF A TORNADO IN THE COMMUNITY OF BETHEL. A STORM SURVEY WILL PROBABLY BE CONDUCTED THE FIRST PART OF THIS WEEK. A DETAILED REPORT WILL BE SUBMITTED TO THE WARNING PREPAREDNESS METEOROLOGIST IN CLEVELAND OHIO OF THE FINDINGS. MANUEL

OHZ010-122330- SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DAYTON OH 633 PM EDT SUN JUL 12 1992 A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT FOR MUCH OF NORTHERN OHIO. AT 630 PM NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR SHOWED THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN ENTERING VAN WERT COUNTY OHIO IN THE CENTRAL PART OF THE COUNTY ALONG THE OHIO INDIANA STATE LINE. THE THUNDERSTORM WAS MOVING EAST AT 30 MPH AND PEOPLE ACROSS THE CENTRAL PART OF VAN WERT COUNTY CAN EXPECT VERY HEAVY DOWNPOURS AND WIND GUSTS TO 45 MPH UNTIL ABOUT 715 PM.
