THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WILMINGTON HAS EXTENDED THE
FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 445PM EST
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION......

IN NORTH DELAWARE

   ...NEW CASTLE COUNTY

THE CHRISTINA RIVER IS STILL FLOODING UPSTREAM FROM CHURCHMANS MARSH
BUT HAS BEEN FALLING SLOWLY DURING THE PAST 2 HOURS. FLOODING IS ALSO
OCCURRING DOWNSTREAM IN SOUTH WILMINGTON NEAR THE MARINE TERMINAL.
TWO FEET OF WATER WAS REPORTED CROSSING PARTS OF COMMERCE STREET NEAR
THE RIVER. HIGH TIDE AT THE MARINE TERMINAL IS AROUND 1230 PM THIS
AFTERNOON. THIS COMBINATION OF HIGH TIDE AND STRONG EAST TO NORTHEAST
WINDS IS CAUSING THE WATER TO BACK UP FROM THE DELAWARE RIVER INTO
THE CHRISTITA RIVER. HOWEVER...THIS SHOULD ALSO BEGIN TO START
FALLING BY AROUND 3PM AS THE NORMAL TIDE BEGINS TO FALL.

WHERE THE BRANDYWINE FLOWS INTO THE CHRISTINA RIVER IN SOUTH WILMINGTON...
THE WATER LEVEL WAS AROUND 1/2 FOOT BELOW FLOOD STAGE NEAR ROSEMONT AVENUE.
HOWEVER...WITH HIGH TIDE OCCURRING NOW...THIS SHOULD ALSO LEVEL OFF WITHIN
AN HOUR OR SO AND START TO SLOWLY FALL. SOME ISOLATED FLOODING AREA MAY
OCCUR NEAR THE MOUTH OF THE BRANDYWINE RIVER.

UP RIVER NEAR THE COOCHES BRIDGE...THE GAGE WAS STILL READING 10.8 FEET...
WHICH IS STILL 1.8 FEET ABOVE FLOOD STAGE. RAIN CONTINUES FALLING OVER
PARTS OF THE RIVER BASIN...SO FLOODING ON THE CHRISTINA AND OTHER SMALL
CREEKS AND STREAMS WILL CONTINUE INTO MID AFTERNOON.

ANOTHER STATEMENT WILL BE ISSUED AROUND 3PM...
