A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH CONTINUES IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM FOR MUCH OF WESTERN NORTH AND SOUTH CAROLINA COUNTIES. THIS WATCH INCLUDES ... BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO CLEVELAND COUNTY IN NORTH CAROLINA AND CHEROKEE COUNTY IN SOUTH CAROLINA. AT 1245 PM EST ... NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR IN CHARLOTTE SHOWED THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY RAIN COVERING MUCH OF THE MOUNTAINS OF NORTH CAROLINA AND NORTHWESTERN SOUTH CAROLINA. HEAVIEST PRECIPITATION WAS INDICATED JUST NORTHWEST OF ASHEVILLE NORTH CAROLINA AND NORTHWEST OF GREER SOUTH CAROLINA. ALL OF THE PRECIPITATION WAS MOVING TOWARD THE EAST AT AROUND 40 MPH. THIS WAS PART OF A LARGER AREA OF PRECIPITATION THAT EXTENDED FROM SOUTHERN OHIO INTO NORTHERN ALABAMA. THESE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL LIKELY MOVE INTO THE NORTHERN FOOTHILLS OF nORTH CAROLINA BEFORE 130 PM AND ACROSS RUTHERFORD INTO CLEVELAND COUNTY ALSO IN NORTH CAROLINA BEFORE 2 PM. IN SOUTH CAROLINA THE THUNDERSTORMS WILL MOVE ACROSS SPARTANBURG AND INTO CHEROKEE COUNTY BEFORE 2 PM. AT 1250 PM ... NO SEVERE WEATHER HAD BEEN REPORTED TO THIS OFFICE. HOWEVER THE SKYWARN AMATEUR RADIO NETWORK HAD BEEN ACTIVATED. AMATEUR RADIO OPERATORS ARE REQUESTED TO REPORT SEVERE WEATHER ON THE 145.350 MHZ REPEATER. THE ALTERNATE REPEATER IS 145.170 MHZ. EYE WITNESS REPORTS OF SEVERE WEATHER ARE IMPORTANT TO THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE. TO REPORT SEVERE WEATHER OR DAMAGE ...
