THERE IS A MODERATE RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS THIS AFTERNOON AND
TONIGHT NORTH OF A BONHAM-DALLAS-BROWNWOOD-ABILENE-CHILDRESS LINE.
FURTHERMORE...ADJACENT TO THIS AREA THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE
THUNDERSTORMS TO THE NORTHWEST OF A TEXARKANA-MARSHALL-CROCKETT LINE.
DALLAS-FORT WORTH...SHERMAN-PARIS...AND WICHITA FALLS ARE IN THE
MODERATE RISK AREA...WHEREAS TYLER/LONGVIEW IS IN THE SLIGHT RISK
AREA.

A STRONG UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE OVER ARIZONA WILL MOVE NORTHEAST
TOWARD THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN PLAINS THROUGH TONIGHT. AT THE
SURFACE...THE DISTURBANCE WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BY A DRY LINE...
SEPARATING MOIST...UNSTABLE AIR TO THE EAST FROM DRY AIR TO THE WEST.
AT NOON...THE DRY LINE EXTENDED FROM SANDERSON...NORTH TO NEAR GAGE
OKLAHOMA.

SKIES IN WEST WEST TEXAS ARE CLEAR AND BY THE TIME OF MAXIMUM
AFTERNOON HEATING...A STRONG UPPER LEVEL JET STREAM WILL STRETCH
ACROSS THE AREA.  WINDS ARE FORECAST TO BE SOUTH TO SOUTHEAST AT THE
SURFACE...AND WILL HAVE FAVORABLE VERTICAL SHEAR (CHANGE OF WIND WITH
HEIGHT) FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS.  A FEW OF THESE STORMS LIKELY WILL
BECOME SUPERCELL STORMS...CAPABLE OF PRODUCING LARGE HAIL AND
TORNADOES.  THE GREATEST RISK OF TORNADOES WILL BE IN THE MODERATE
RISK AREA.

AS THUNDERSTORMS MOVE INTO CENTRAL AND EASTERN PORTIONS OF NORTH TEXAS
TONIGHT AND EARLY MONDAY...THE RISK OF SEVERE WEATHER WILL CONTINUE.
FURTHERMORE...BRIEF...HEAVY RAINFALL MAY FALL IN CENTRAL SECTIONS OF
NORTH TEXAS THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT. A BETTER CHANCE FOR HEAVY
RAINFALL...WITH POSSIBLE 2 TO 3 INCH AMOUNTS...APPEARS LIKELY FOR THE
EASTERN 1/3 OF NORTH TEXAS LATE TONIGHT AND EARLY MONDAY.

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS OFFICIALS AND STORM SPOTTERS THROUGHOUT NORTH
TEXAS SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR POSSIBLE ACTIVATION DURING THIS
DANGEROUS WEATHER EVENT.  RESIDENTS OF EAST TEXAS SHOULD BE ESPECIALLY
WEARY OF THE HEAVY RAIN THREAT LATER TONIGHT SINCE SOILS REMAIN
SATURATED AND LAKES AND RIVERS CONTINUE AT ABNORMALLY HIGH LEVELS.
