THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SAN ANTONIO HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 245 AM CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES...
 
IN SOUTH TEXAS
 
   ...MAVERICK COUNTY
 
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR INDICATED A PERSISTENT AREA OF SHOWERS
AND STRONG THUNDERSTORMS OVER MUCH OF CENTRAL AND NORTHERN MAVERICK
COUNTY. THIS AREA HAS MOVED LITTLE IN THE PAST HOUR. SEVERAL INCHES OF
RAIN ALREADY MAY HAVE FALLEN IN SOME LOCATIONS WITHIN THE COUNTY AND
IT IS LIKELY THAT MOST LOW-WATER CROSSINGS...FLOOD-PRONE AREAS AND
SECONDARY ROADS MAY BE EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS.
 
BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS.  IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED
ACT QUICKLY.  MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.  DO
NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.
 
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT.  IT IS
IMPORTANT TO KNOW WHERE YOU ARE RELATIVE TO STREAMS...RIVERS...OR
CREEKS WHICH CAN BECOME KILLERS IN HEAVY RAINS.  CAMPERS AND OTHER
PEOP2LE IN RECREATION AREAS ALONG CREEKS...STREAMS...AND RIVERS IN
THE WARNING AREA SHOULD MOVE TO HIGH GROUND IMMEDIATELY.
