TEXAS/OKLAHOMA PANHANDLES THUNDERSTORM OUTLOOK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AMARILLO TX
100 PM CDT THU JUN 11 1992

THERE WILL BE A SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS LATE THIS AFTERNOON
AND MAINLY THIS EVENING ACROSS THE OKLAHOMA AND TEXAS PANHANDLES.
A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE STORMS IS POSSIBLE ACROSS THE WESTERN TWO
THIRDS OF THE PANHANDLES.

A MOIST AIRMASS OVER THE REGION CONTINUED TO BECOME INCREASINGLY
UNSTABLE EARLY THURSDAY AFTERNOON. ISOLATED TO WIDELY SCATTERED
THUNDERSTORMS COULD DEVELOP BY LATE AFTERNOON INTO MAINLY THE EVENING
HOURS. THE MOST LIKELY AREA FOR INITIAL DEVELOPMENT APPEARS TO BE
ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS AND FOOTHILLS OF EASTERN NEW MEXICO. THUNDERSTORMS
THAT DEVELOP TODAY WOULD LIKELY BE MOVING SOUTHEAST AT ABOUT 10 TO 15 MPH
...CREATING THE BEST CHANCES OF STORMS FOR THE WESTERN MOST COUNTIES IN
THE PANHANDLES.

A WEAK UPPER RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE SOUTHERN ROCKIES...THE
LACK OF ANY SIGNIFICANT BOUNDARIES OVER THE REGION...AND LITTLE UPPER
LEVEL SUPPORT SHOULD INHIBIT WIDESPREAD THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT.

SPOTTER GROUPS AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICIALS MAINLY IN THE WESTERN
TWO THIRDS OF THE PANHANDLES SHOUWLD REMAIN ALERT AND BE READY FOR
ACTIVATION THIS EVENING IF NECESSARY.
