PRELIMINARY REPORTS SHOW THAT THERE WAS SOME TREE DAMAGE IN COWETA, TROUP, AND FAYETTE COUNTIES AS THE STRONG THUDERSTORMS MOVED THROUGH LATE THIS AFTERNOON. THE STRONGEST STORMS HAVE NOW MOVED TO THE EAST AND SOUTHEAST OF THE ATLANTA METRO AREA. NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICES IN MACON AND ATHENS ARE NOW TRACKING THESE STORMS. AT 645 PM RADAR IN MACON SHOWED A LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS IN CENTRAL GEORGIA FROM NORTH OF MONTICELLO IN JASPER COUNTY SOUTHWARD TO JUST WEST OF MACON AND FURTHER SOUTH TO MONTEZUMA IN MACON COUNTY. MOVEMENT WAS NORTHEAST AT 40 MPH. BECAUSE OF THE FAST MOVEMENT OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS AND OTHER RADAR INDICATIONS...STRONG GUSTY WINDS ARE EXPECTED WITH THESE STORMS AS THEY CONTINUE MOVING NORTHEAST. HEAVY RAINS ARE ALSO LIKELY.
