000 TTAA00 KBUF 022116 SVRBUF NYC013-032205- BULLETIN EBS ACTIVATION REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BUFFALO NY 405 PM EST SAT MAR 2 1991 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 505 PM EST FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING NEW YORK COUNTIES... CHAUTAUQUA AT 400 PM BUFFALO RADAR DETECTED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM OVER SOUTHWESTERN CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY. THE STORM WAS MOVING NORTHEAST AT 40 MILES AN HOUR. THERE WERE REPORTS OF HAIL AS LARGE AS 1 INCH IN DIAMETER FROM THIS CELL AS IT CROSSED NORTHEAST OHIO. BE ON THE ALERT FOR THUNDERSTORMS ACCOMPANIED BY FREQUENT LIGHTNING.. STRONG DAMAGING WINDS AND LARGE HAIL. LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN MAY ALSO CAUSE D RAINAGE FLOODING. IF THREATENING WEATHER APPROACHES GO TO A SAFE PLACE IMMEDIATELY. AT 330PM A BROKEN AREA OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS HAD MOVED INTO FAR NORTHWEST PENNSYLVANIA...EXTREME NORTHEAST OHIO AND THE ADJACENT WATERS OF LAKE ERIE. THE ACTIVITY COVERED ASHTABULA COUNTY OHIO AS WELL AS CRAWFORD AND ERIE COUNTIES IN PENNSYLVANIA. THE MOST SIGNIFICANT STORM WAS JUST NORTH OF ANDOVER OHIO. THE THUNDERSTORMS ARE MOVING NORTHEAST AT 35 MILES AND HOUR...AND SHOULD REACH CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY NEW YORK BY 4PM. ONE INCH HAIL@ WAS REPORTED IN YOUNGSTOWN OHIO SHORTLY BEFORE 3PM.
