ORZ010-060230- SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PENDLETON OR 730 PM PDT THU JUL 6 1990 STRONG WIND AND LOCAL BLOWING DUST ACROSS PARTS UMATILLA COUNTIES... AND MORROW COUNTIES. THUNDERSTORMS THAT MOVED UP THE EAST SIDE OF THE CASCADES ALONG WITH A WESTERLY PUSH OF MARINE AIRHAS COMBINED TO CREATE WESTERLY WINDS WITH GUSTS TO NEAR 50 MPH AT THE PENDLETON AIRPORT. WITH THE TOP LAYER OF THE SOIL VERY DRY AND POWDERRY THE WIND IS CAUSING BLOWING DUST WITH POOR VISIBILITY. THERE ARE ALSO A FEW THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS MORROW COUNTY. THE STRONG WIND WILL CAUSE POOR DRIVING CONDITIONS AND STRONG WINDS COULD ALSO DO SOME MINOR DAMAGE TO TREES AND POWER LINES. PERSONS LIVING OR TMRAVELING IN THE TWO COUNTRY AREA SHOULD USE CAUSTION AND STAY TUNED TO LOCAL RADIO STATIONS. END/ZS
