THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CAPE HATTERAS HAS ISSUED A
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING AND
SPECIAL MARINE WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  745 PM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTY...
 
IN NORTHEAST NORTH CAROLINA
          ...DARE...HATTERAS ISLAND
 
THE PAMLICO SOUND AND THE COASTAL WATERS FROM OREGON INLET TO CAPE
HATTERAS.
 
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUE OVER THE PAMLICO SOUND BETWEEN STUMPY
POINT AND HATTERAS ISLAND. THESE THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCED A POSSIBLE
TORNADO IN THE STUMPY POINT AREA. OTHER THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCED LARGE
HAIL...VERY HEAVY RAIN...STRONG GUSTY WINDS...AND FREQUENT LIGHTNING
OVER PARTS OF THE OUTER BANKS.
 
MARINERS SHOULD MAKE FOR SAFE HARBOR IMMEDIATELY OR MAKE THEIR VESSELS
READY FOR ROUGH SEAS AND STRONG WINDS. WATERSPOUTS ARE POSSIBLE NEAR
THESE THUNDERSTORMS.
 
MOVEMENT OF THE THUNDERSTORMS WAS EAST AT 10 MILES AN HOUR. THE
THUNDERSTORMS SHOULD MOVE OVER HATTERAS ISLAND BETWEEN BUXTON AND
RODANTHE BY 730 PM EDT TONIGHT.
 
 
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCE DAMAGING WIND IN EXCESS OF 55
MPH...DESTRUCTIVE HAIL...DEADLY LIGHTNING...AND VERY HEAVY RAIN.
FOR YOUR PROTECTION MOVE TO AN INTERIOR ROOM ON THE LOWEST FLOOR
OF YOUR HOME OR BUSINESS.  HEAVY RAINS FLOOD ROADS QUICKLY SO
