000 TTAA00 KBUF 282214 TORBUF NYC013-282300- BULLETIN EBS ACTIVATION REQUESTED TORNADO WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BUFFALO NY 615 PM EDT TUE AUG 28 1990 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A TORNADO WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 700 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING NEW YORK COUNTIES... CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY AND THE ADJACENT COASTAL WATERS. AT 615 PM...BUFFALO WEATHER RADAR DETECTED A LINE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS OVER LAKE ERIE. THE BUFFALO WEATHER RADAR ALSO INDICATED EVIDENCE OF CIRCULATION IN A POSSIBLE TORNADO OFF THE CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHORELINE NEAR WESTFIELD. THESE STORMS WERE MOVING EAST SOUTHEAST AT 45 MILES AN HOUR. BE ON THE ALERT FOR TORNADOES OR THUNDERSTORMS ACCOMPANIED BY FREQUENT LIGHTNING.. STRONG DAMAGING WINDS AND LARGE HAIL. LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN MAY ALSO CAUSE DRAINAGE FLOODING. IF THREATENING WEATHER APPROACHES GO TO TO THE BASEMENT OR AN INTERIOR ROOM OR HALLWAY AND GET UNDER A STURDY PIECE OF FURNITURE. MOBILE HOMES AND AUTOxS OFFER LITTLE SHELTER FROM TORNADOES. TAN
