000 TTAA00 KBUF 282200 TORBUF NYC029-282300- BULLETIN EBS ACTIVATION REQUESTED TORNADO WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BUFFALO NY 600 PM EDT TUE AUG 28 1990 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A TORNADO WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 630 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING NEW YORK COUNTIES... SOUTHERN ERIE AND THE ADJACENT COASTAL WATERS. AT 600 PM...BUFFALO WEATHER RADAR DETECTED A LINE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS...AND POSSIBLY A TORNADO...OVER EASTERN LAKE ERIE. AN AMATUER RADIO SPOTTER REPORTED HAIL...VERY STRONG WINDS AND LOW HANGING CLOUDS WITH INDICATIONS OF ROTATION ALONG THE LAKESHORE NEAR HAMBURG. THESE STORMS WERE MOVING SOUTHEAST AT 45 MILES AN HOUR. BE ON THE ALERT FOR TORNADOES OR THUNDERSTORMS ACCOMPANIED BY FREQUENT LIGHTNING.. STRONG DAMAGING WINDS AND LARGE HAIL. LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN MAY ALSO CAUSE DRAINAGE FLOODING. IF THREATENING WEATHER APPROACHES GO TO TO THE BASEMENT OR AN INTERIOR ROOM OR HALLWAY AND GET UNDER A STURDY PIECE OF FUgRNITURE.
